Easy Apple Pie

Yes, it’s easy!

I’m just being a little extra with this pie crust, because I love experimenting and trying new techniques.

The filling is delicious and literally a one dish ordeal. The part that takes the longest is peeling and cutting the apples.

So … let’s get to it!

Easy Apple Pie

yields one deep dish pie

4 lbs green apples, peeled & sliced

juice of one lemon

zest from lemon

2 T butter

3/4 c sugar

4 T flour

3/4 c brown sugar

2 t cinnamon

1/2 t ground nutmeg

1/2 t cardamom - optional

  1. Peel and cut apples. Toss in lemon juice.

  2. Add all ingredients into a deep skillet. Stir to incorporate.

  3. On medium-high heat begin to cook. Stir often. Lower heat as the apples begin to soften and juice thickens.

  4. Cook 20 minutes. Keep stirring frequently.

  5. Cool the filling slightly before adding to pie crust. (Pie crust)

  6. Once the pie is assembled place it in the freezer for 20 minutes before baking for a super flaky texture.

  7. Bake pie on 450 degrees for 15 minutes, then turn heat down to 350 degrees and bake 35-40 minutes. Place foil around edges once the pie browns to your desired preference.

  8. Cool 4 hours before cutting.

  9. Store on counter for up to two days, then in the refrigerator for two if it lasts that long.

Enjoy,

Noël
